Your machine with auto focus right? Accoding to my experience, the auto focus is bad, cannot sensor automcatically, you can only adjust the focus length by yourself.

When you need attach rotary, you can attach it on X axis or Y axis, when you connect on Y axis, then the rotary will replace the Y axis to move , Y axis don't need move.
