I have a laser amchine which I have had for some years. Now when tuned on the laser nozzle bangs onto the end stop continually. I need to press the esc key to stop this motion. Any ideas how to fix this.

Is the sensor on the moving or fixed part of the machine

Dear ,

Your machine with auto focus right? Accoding to my experience, the auto focus is bad, cannot sensor automcatically, you can only adjust the focus length by yourself.

Best Regards,
Cherry

I don't know about other brands but on mine (Boss Laser) the X & Y are mounted to the end of the rails and the z on the head. I'd assume that's pretty standard no matter the brand? They're just magnetic sensors. I'm assuming it's the X or Y your'e having issues with?

One of the following.

Laser has lost absolute datum or thinks the head is a different location to actual

Limit switch failure

Limit switch wiring lose or pssible breakage

First try and reset datum, ensure X and Y is 0-0

test the limit switch by putting lead in the middle of the table, switch on machine and press press limit switch( if mechanical or use a magnet ) which should stop the travel ( you will have to do a datum rest again after this.

Sometimes the wire in the tracked channel to the switch will fail causing an intermittant fault, sometimes the broken wire touches, sometimes it des not so the switch does not actuate, if this is the case you will need to run a new wire through the track, You can also check rthis wire with a continuity tester back at the controller
