Hi folks, thought I'd say hello.

I've always had a fascination with lasers and have a modified laser pointer which is about 20mW

The reason I know this is I'm lucky enough to work for a company that makes 3D metal laser printers and work on 200, 400 and 500W machines with our new combined 2000W quad laser system coming out soon. The embarrassing thing is, I know a lot about the mechanical side of the machine, but bugger all about the optical train

Anyway, I hope to get to know some knowledgeable folk on here to change that.

Hi I'm ve3sqb (Alan ). I am a retired teacher and technical director for the local school board. I am a complete tech nerd and fortunately so is my wife so if I buy a new toy she asks if I got her one (don't be jealous). I have a cnc wood router, 3d printer and a few months ago got a mana 500mw laser to see if I was interested in it. Almost immediately I upgraded to a 3.5 watt and now have a 15 watt. Each step of the way I encountered different mechanical and/or electrical problems. Everything from noise on the usb cable , a faulty arduino and having to slot the wheel bolt hole to tighten them because some rollers were not touching. I love a challenge and will share my learning experiences with everyone.

Hi my name is J.P. and I’m from Portland Oregon. I used to work on industrial CO2 lasers back in the late 90s and him getting back into the cutting and engraving scene. I’m thinking about purchasing a JQ Laser, and possibly flying to China to inspect the factory first. I’ll be doing some research here and hopefully can find some answers and learn some along the way.

Hello, Ryan here.

I have a 60 watt co2 home brew with lead shine closed loop steppers, and an aquarium chiller and buffer for cooling.

Pretty experienced at maintaining these things now having learned the hard way several times.

Greetings
I bought a CO2 50W Chinese Laser off of Ebay. Going through the learning curve to set up now. Unit was packaged extremely well and no damage was found upon delivery. Yesterday was first power on test with water and air. Loaded SW onto old laptop with XP last night and today will perform the alignment test for laser spot. Can't wait to get this up and working. Primary plan for this device is to engrave the pens and other items I make.
I do woodworking and make pens both in wood and acrylic plus other items. Plan to expand into making some small signs and cutouts.
