What is wrong

Post by WilliamNep »

Hi all.

I have a laser machine... which has been running fine (ish) for a couple of years now...

... but now I have a couple of issues when doing fine engraving:

1) It doesn't return to origin. Each time it's about 1/2 a mm higher and to the right of where it started

2) it's now making (some) straight diagonal lines, jerky/stepped.... in 1/2mm steps.

I'm not sure if this is due to the new controller board, or (as I suspect) belts need tightening.

Which I've never done - does anyone know how I can make the tensions correct on a it? ie: should there be a frequency when plucked, or amount of distortion when pushed?

maybe you should reset the setting in the controller. you can contact with your seller.by the way, do you have this problem if you read the instructions about your machine?

Problems like this are often mechanical. Make sure your linear slides are clean and the belts are not worn or slack. Could also be worn bearings in the stepper motors. With the machine unplugged, check if the slides move freely.
