How to connect new laser tube

I have ordered my new laser tube and am needing some advice. Upon removal of the old tube, I noticed that the high voltage wire and the ground wire are not soldered to the tube. They are just wrapped around the connector and siliconed. Is this the correct procedure for connecting the wires? If there is a better way, please advise. I want to make sure that I have the best connection possible. I do not think that soldering is an option as the tube may be stressed and crack from the heat. So please, if there a better way to make the connections, help me out.
