Ehaust port for overhead door

I am waiting on my new machine to be delivered and spending the time preparing for its arrival.
My exhaust system is the typical big ugly blower with 6 inch piping, my question is that I can get a 5 inch port that will install in my garage door and think it would be fine using a tapered stepdown adapter
What are your thoughts on this method?
