Cannot Save and re-open RDWorks Files

Hello! I'm brand new here. My name is Steve, and I run a small Fab shop in Atlanta Ga. I've recently added a 60 watt chinese Co2 laser for cutting small parts that my CNC just pushes around the table. I'm having a heck of a time with RD Works right now, as I cannot save a file and re-open it.
Anything i save as an .RLD file will not re-open if i try to load it. I get the message "file format error" every time.
I am using the Bosslaser RD Works from their site, as it seems a tad less "Chinese"
The version my laser cutter company gave me has the same issue.
I'm just stumped.
I've been searching the forums here, and everything I search either tells me I'm using too many common words, or I just get zero results. I'll continue reading posts, but I wondered if anyone knows what my issue might be?
