Father and Son newbies

Hi all, both my father any I are looking to start engraving glassware. He has been engraving for a few years as a hobby but using manual engraving tools. We are now looking to go a step further and research the laser engraving machines but cant find anything for beginners.. Is there such a thing as all we want to do is engrave bottles and glasses, so perhaps the laser option is a bit too fanciful ?
