50 watt co2 laser that will not cut through 3mm MDF

Post by ottsen »

Hello.

I have a 50 watt co2 laser that will not cut through 3mm MDF. I have changed the tube and the mirrors are adjusted and I can't see any damage to the mirrors or lens, a nice purple beam of light comes through the laser. Does anyone know what could be wrong.
1. Could it be the power supply?
2. Could it be the mirrors or lens that have a fault that I can't see?
3. I have previously been able to cut through 3mm MDF at a speed of 10 and 60% power.

Pictures of how the laser tube looks when it works and how it only cut in the surface.

Hope someone can help.

Greetings Kjeld

Hey,

Try these steps

Power Supply: Check if the power supply is working consistently.

Mirrors and Lens: Ensure they are clean and correctly aligned.

Settings: Use the same settings that previously worked – speed at 10 and power at 60%.

If the problem persists, consider consulting a professional technician for further assistance.

It sounds like you've already checked some key components, so it's possible that the issue lies with either the power supply or the optics. Since you've ruled out damage to the mirrors and lens, it might be worth considering the power supply as a potential culprit. However, before replacing anything, it's a good idea to troubleshoot further to pinpoint the exact cause. You could try testing the power output of the laser tube and ensuring that all connections are secure. Additionally, experimenting with different power and speed settings may help determine if there's an issue with the current configuration. If you're still having trouble, considering upgrading to a Monport laser could be a solution worth exploring. Monport lasers are known for their reliability and quality, and they may provide the cutting power you need for your MDF projects. https://monportlaser.com/?sca_ref=5031521.ka374VZjm3

If your 50-watt CO2 laser isn't cutting through 3mm MDF despite changing the tube and adjusting the mirrors, it might be worth considering the Monport laser. The Monport laser is very nice, easy to use, high quality, and affordable. Check it out here: https://monportlaser.com/?sca_ref=5031521.ka374VZjm3 . Regarding your issue, it could be the power supply, so ensure it provides consistent output. The mirrors or lens might have micro-damage or dirt that’s not visible, affecting the beam quality. Additionally, ensure your alignment is precise and check for any focus issues. Hope this helps!
