LiteFire - "Detail" Control

Hi All. Long time knifemaker, but I am new to the laser engraving game.

I have a CNC 3018 "Woodpecker" GRBL 0.9 with a 5.5W 450 nm diode laser. It came bundled with LiteFire software which is okay, but there is no help and no manual. For the most part I have figured out what does what, all except the "Detail" control. Does anyone know what this actually does?

Also, is there any open source alternative to LiteFire that people have been using?
