Cutting Acrylic sheet --- 20160515

Hello!

I have three questions.

1. When we cut the Acrylic sheet, it seems something sticking out of edge. So, the edge is too sharp.
And, when we touch the edge we feel rough.
I do not know I explain plainly or not. I am attaching the drawing to explain the edge.
The ruler you offered does not have sharp edge. It is smooth even though the edge is 90 degrees.
It seems that there is something on the edge.

2. When we try to align the mirrors.
We cannot make small hall. We always have small circle burning mark.
On your movie clip, you made a very small dot.
Could you tell me how to make small dot. I am attaching photo.

3. You had said to remove the level sensor to solve not moving Z axis problem.
I disconnected the sensor and then the problem solved.
Does it mean the sensor has the problem?
Can I keep using the machine without sensor?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Young
Sorry reply you so lately cause we were out in the weekend
For your questions
1. Could you please take a picture about the cutting result to show me and also sending your file to me for checking
It's just a drawing graphics, a real cutting result will provide me more details

2. align the laser beam, please set that power to 25% even 30%, it will shows you a filled circle,
and the video shown you that is a 40W laser tube, but your laser is a big laser tube, so the laser dot will be also larger
It's difference with two type of laser tubes
how many power you set when you align the mirror?

3. the auto focus sensor is unreliable now, maybe its detecting area is dirty, after you cleaned using the alcohol and the issue is still
Please keep using the laser machine without sensor

Thanks for your reply.

1. I am attaching the photo of the cutting edge.
But, it is not easy to take photo. It is easy to feel with hands.

2. I used 20%. 25%, 30%, and 35% power.
But, every time, I had burning circle.

3. I had told you that I cleaned the sensor.
And, it does not work. Does it mean the sensor has the problem?
And, if I use the machine without the sensor, is it ok?
You said that the sensor is connected to z axis movement. It does not matter using z movement without sensor?

4. One more question.
If I use the machine with 70 or 80% power, does the high power harm the laser tube?
I never used over 60% power because your data sheet use the power under 60%.
Does it mean it is more reliable to choose the power under 60%?

Thanks in advance!

1. thank you for your photos
i understood what you mention now
so i think that the issue should be the focus distance, please check if you set that right with the focus
Please make it sure the focus must be 6mm from the bottom of head to the surface of material
If not, please try to find out what is the best focus after set 5mm, 5.5mm, 6.0mm, 6.5mm, 7mm to try every one

2. Yeah, big laser tube will lasers a big burning circle but it must be filled, no empty

3, Yeah, if it still does not work after you cleaning, you can also using z movement without sensor, up and down by manually to control
But you will need to adjust that focus distance by manually

4. i recommend the max power should be lower 70%, more high power will be shortening the laser tube life
60% power is more reliable for the laser tube life

Thank you for your mention.

Can I check one thing with the number 1. question?
When I check the focus distance, do I have to use the same power and speed?
And, one more thing........
The height of the focus lens can be adjusted with the dial on the focus head.
Can I adjust focus distance by moving the laser head not cutting bed?

1. How to adjust the best focus distance for the laser.
Please try as follow steps to find the best focal distance.
1. put a A4 paper on the table
2. set the power as 12%
3. set the focal distance as 5.5mm
4. click(not press) the "laser" button on panel to draw a small dot
5. set the focal distance as 5.0/5.1/5.2/5.3/5.4/5.6/5.7/5.8/5.9/6.0 and
then draw small dots like step 4-5.
6. comparing the dots to check carefully which dot is smaller, the smallest
dot is the best focal distance.

2. yeah, you can loosen the yellow screw on the head and then pull it up or down by moving the laser head but not cutting bed

So see the attached pictures
