A chinese laser tube can fail or work at reduced power before it reaches you already.
If you need higher power settings than before it is a good indication that your tube is going off.

Sorry be the bearer of bad news, but very likely your friend bought a cheapo laser if he got it off eBay (less than $4k). If so, your best bet is to throw it away and buy a decent laser. Driver card or motor for the Y axis is either on it's way out, faulty or has a loose connection. Swap the wires over with the X axis card and see if the problem travels with it, if so then it's the driver and not the motor. best wishes Borberto Well I already try that and probably the card is dead....
