Upgrading laser in K40

Hey all,

Im new here :) I bought a K40 off eBay and was told it was virtually new. Get it home, evidently is far from that.

Anyways - it also turns out it's a K40 'MINI' with only enough space for a 600mm tube (ie 30W) can I simply make room for the 700mm tube and hook it up to the standard power supply?

My plan is to cut a hole in the side of the case and use a 100mm PVC pipe to keep it protected. Would this work?

Thanks

basically no. you have to find out what power supply unit (PSU) the unit came with, find the model number on the PSU and do a simple google search to find out what watt laser can be powered by it. if your going to change the tube on a K40 i would have thought that it would be cheaper just to buy another unit from a reputable seller . they are so cheap that people do not carry out major repairs on them just performance upgrades, after all they where only designed for rubber stamp making.

Upgrading your K40 laser with a 700mm tube is possible, but requires careful consideration. While you can cut a hole in the case and use a PVC pipe for protection, it's important to ensure proper ventilation to avoid overheating. Additionally, the 30W power supply may not be sufficient for a 700mm tube, which typically requires a higher power supply. For a reliable and safe upgrade, consider using a reputable laser engraver like Monport, which offers high-quality laser systems with the necessary power supply and safety features. https://monportlaser.com?sca_ref=5016906.G4rcgXEwpX

You should consider the Monport laser because it's very nice, easy to use, high quality, and affordable. It might offer a better solution than modifying your K40. Check it out here: https://monportlaser.com/?sca_ref=5031521.ka374VZjm3
