What's going on with my cut path?

Hi all!
Can someone diagnose what is happening here?
The cut is artifacted or power surging or something funky is going on.
I attached a pic. Any idea what i should look for to rectify these little notches/blowouts in the path?
the file has no nodules or anything along the path... that should be a smooth edge.
this is an 80w nova 35 btw.
