Hi all
Im brand new here, and just as new to any kind of laser engraving!
I would like to mainly engrave stone/pebbles, and engrave fairly deep. So far ive learned that a diode engraver would not be an option, and to engrave this type of material it would have to be a C02 machine
I started to look, but the prices are a lot more than what I was initially thinking to spend, and not sure how far I should stretch the budget?
Also, I was thinking that I may be able to use it in a spare room in my house, which I currently use as an office, but I'm thinking that this would be a bad idea?
Because of the cost involved to buy a C02 machine, I started looking at the Chinese market, and wondered if any of the machines for sale on alibaba and alliexpress for example are any good? or would I be better looking for a something used?
I would really appreciate if someone could recommend a machine or at least a particular brand of machine, or any other advice would be very welcome
Thanks
legepe

Re: C02 machine?
Thanks very much for the reply betty_k
This machine looks to be what Im looking for
Do I need additional things to use it ie: chiller, fume extractor? or can it be used without them? I will have to find room in my garage, but dont know how Im going to be able to do it
What Im struggling to find with this machine or others is the maximum depth of the object to be engraved. Maybe I am not understanding the spec's given by the seller's but can you tell me what is this specification with this machine?
Also, I found this machine which looks very similar to the monport, would this be another option? or is the monport better?

Thanks again for your advice

Re: C02 machine?
Here is a couple of videos Ive took off youtube
They are both examples of what I want to achieve with the C02 engraver
Will I be able to achieve the same with the monport 40W?

Re: C02 machine?
Thanks for the information
I am getting quite confused though, as the two videos I have posted are both done with fiber lasers
Ive also been informed that its a fiber laser that is best for stone, pebbles, etc.. or even better is a mopa
Any further advice very much welcome

Re: C02 machine?
I just saw AtomStack is going to launch their new CO2 laser. I had their A70, the open frame big power laser. Pretty nice machine.
